Brookstone has the “Better Than Down” set of 2 pillows on sale for only $24.99 marked down from $49.95. In case you’re wondering, yes the better than down is a down alternative pillow but for those that are allergic and want to get the same great comfort, these are the alternative pillows for you. You’ll get the same basic softness and breathability but in soft, hypoallergenic micro fiber. Plus, you’ve got to like the fact these are machine washable pillows. Most buyers found these to be wonderful but some small critics labeled them “too soft” and lumpy. Personally, I like Brookstone and I think these are a really good deal. Rated 4.3 out of 5 stars.

While on the prowl for the best goose down pillow, I came across yet another down alternative at Pottery Barn. I like to include the alternatives for those that have allergies. PotteryBarn’s Classic Goose-Down and/or Micromax Pillow come in 550 fill power and 300 thread count. I just realized that you have the option to either get the pillow in goose down or Micromax meaning Pottery Barn has both options open when you order. These look firm and are described as having the high quality European Goose Down. I really like the approach Pottery Barn has taken with these pillow. This is very reassuring to know that you’re most likely getting the same product quality and the only difference is the filling. Cost is $39 to $59 depending on size.

Amazon.com has a very high rated pillow called the Pinzon Chamonix White Goose Down Pillow for $64.99. This is for the high end shopper, but if you make the purchase, you’ll get a firm down pillow that is still very soft and fluffs back into shape once the pressure is off. Also, if you like to go green, the Tencel cotton is not only 440 count but is also environment friendly. One customer dubbed the Pinzon, the best they had ever slept on. Another reviewer lauded that this was better than the Pyrenees version. Even, a critic labeled it as just average which is certainly not a bad floor rating.

I really like some of the options that are coming up. I’m going to keep looking to see if I can’t find any quality down pillows in designer colors for the interior decorator in me.
